TV Writers Say They’re Striking to Stop the Destruction of Their Profession

Television shows across the country are going dark because their writers have walked off the job. The strikers say they had no choice but to walk, as new technology and the squeeze from executives have put their very livelihood in serious danger.

@stevenrosenthal who would've guessed the guys who can go on strike because they can write well would also have an extended clip of snark on deck?
@karlrolson Exactly! NY especially has so many late night shows. The picket line I saw yesterday was just a murderer’s row of savage joke writers.

Yet the studios actually think they can replace real #writers with #AI, better referred to as "spicy autocomplete"?? CEOs are probably oblivious to the "content" (lordy, I despise that term!) their studios produce & only care about the $$$.

Feels a little too complimentary though. It's more like writing asbestos - seemingly a safety feature because it can make your story structure safer, and it can be used seemingly everywhere for everything, but eventually it gives your projects intellectual cancer, and any IP contaminated with it probably needs to be ripped back to the plot outline and basically rebuilt from scratch.
