Today's example? Discord deciding "descriminators are bad" because...

...friend request failures and illiterate users.
For fuck's sake.
Half the problems they cite are CASE SENSITIVITY and not the arbitrary numerical string used by several other platforms, like BattleNet and Bungie.
After their crypto flirtations, Discord should have kicked out their management and restructured.
Fucking idiots.
What the hell is the issue with so many people in charge of tech just completely losing touch with the average user or being obscenely blind to how their product is actually used?
What is it that insulates them from the reality of their systems and end users?
And why the fuck are Discord's default notification settings still set to "more spam than a TV store playing re-runs of Monty Python"?
The average user has more problems with overwhelming notifications than fucking discriminators.
The biggest problem with Discord's idea to get rid of discriminators is that it causes IMMEDIATE issues.
Username conflicts have to be resolved somehow, and people need to post updates everywhere they advertise their account to reflect new changes.
Updating the discriminators to be alphanumeric (if it's a scalability issue) is a far easier fix that causes no immediate conflicts and is backwards compatible with the existing system, making it a non-issue for users.
Why the hell is this so hard?
