One of my daughters is in the Forest Service in the Oregon wilderness. She has worked in fire towers and fought wildfires near Mount Hood. Her housemate, another young woman, was a helicopter pilot who flew into fire zones swinging multi-ton buckets of water scooped from lakes, through smoke so thick they couldn't see out.

When your life depends on help from above, you don't care what pronouns they use.
