Republicans come up with all kinds of red herrings to distract attention from the obvious fact that guns are the problem.

Mental illness, too soon, thoughts and prayers - the list goes on.

“Illegal immigrant” now from Greg Abbott, as if that somehow mitigates the deaths of 5 people and doesn’t even appear to be true. But this is who the GOP are.

Only 50% of registered Texas voters voted in 2022. Thinking that your vote doesn’t matter because you live in a red county/state? What if it would?

@TonyStark

This is kind of a surprising statistic, as I've always felt that Republicans in Texas are big voters; at least all of the ones I know are.

For Democrats it's certainly been frustrating.

But we keep voting, and hoping that some day we'll unseat some of those miscreants.

@Gleng2 @TonyStark

I'm a sometimes election judge and the number is not surprising. Texas isn't red, it's non-voting.

@vor @TonyStark My county is one of the strongest Red counties in Texas. Voting increased from 65-73% for President 2016/2020; but midterms decreased from 59-50% 2018 / 2022 which makes sense due to Trump fatigue; Harris County which is much bluer increased 58-66% for President but also declined during midterms 52-42%. With so much at stake, 2022 midterm’s lower turnout for Democrats is what’s so surprising to me. We all know here we’ve got a big job to do, at least that’s been my perception.
