I’ll admit upfront that I haven’t watched the Lakers much since the deadline, but here are some quick hits on why I like the Warriors in this series 🧵

DDV was horribly rattled in the last series, but I think that had a lot to do with the incredible pace, and the difficulty of corralling much quicker players.

The Lakers are much faster than previous LBJ teams but DDV will have fewer problems getting back and should be effective defender (along with GP2) on DLo, Reaves and Schroeder.

Fully expect his 3pt shot to return along with his composure.

I expect Kuminga to play a role in this series - guarding LeBron. He did this very effectively in the regular season, and also created problems with his open court speed.

This will of course depend on his adherence to Kerr’s game plan.

Any lengthening of the Warriors bench in the opening games will be very welcome.

How hard will the Lakers be to guard?

These 3 point %’s will be key:
LBJ: 32%
AD: 26%
Vanderbilt 32%

Does this suggest a strategy? Yup, extend our on DLo and Reaves but pack the paint on the bigs.

Playing Vanderbilt, their best defender after AD, could prove a gift to the Warriors. Can he be guarded by Curry, a favorite Kerr trick?

Everyone assumes Wiggins will guard LBJ, but why not put Dray on him, and Wiggins on DLo?

Wiggins and Klay’s length on DLo and Reaves could have a shocking result on the Laker’s efficiency.

How about on the other end - can the Lakers guard the Warriors?

One of the fascinating things about this series compared to the last is that it will flip the Warriors strategy on its head. Getting to the rim was the key to unlocking the Kings defense. But is that what the Ws want to do with AD lurking?

No. I see this as a series where the Warriors are far more content to bomb from 3 - against defenders that are either too short or too big. The Lakers lack 2 way wings with length!

And here is where the sheer math of 3s against 2s come in. The Lakers most efficient weapon is the 2. The Warriors is the 3.

Do the math. This has been the secret to the Warriors dominance in the Curry era.

Let’s goooooooo!

@feltbot awesome preview Felt! How many games do you think the series goes ? Do you think the longer it goes it favors us or the lake show?
