The setting is a lane between old brick walls, with steep-rooved houses in the background. A calico cat walks along, preceded by several tiny kittens, still at that stage where their tails are straight up and triangular.
One of the kittens is a puppy. It blends in as it's got similar colouring.
The mother cats helps her kittens over a low window ledge, and the puppy struggles to get over while the kittens manage much better.
Then the mother cat washes the puppy, her eyes closed with contentment, the puppy equally relaxed and at ease.
