The APC uninterruptible power supply eats up 10w even when "switched off".

Power budget for farm-wide and indoor WiFi + 4G router is 10w.

Music system with Bluetooth receiver, amplifier, bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer draws 10w at my usual listening volume.

Every hour the UPS is plugged into the solar inverter is an hour less of the WiFi when conserving power during overcast/rainy days such as now.

Hmmm.

#SolarPunk #SolarFunk 😅

@harshad But if you have a battery on your solar system, do you need a UPS?
@erikdorthe when inverter battery is low, some devices trigger overload protection, which shuts off power for few seconds. The UPS keeps network and compute online through that
@harshad Ah, a tricky nut to crack. My solution for this sort of thing was to decide that I care less about 100% uptime, but I can see not everyone agreeing with that.
@erikdorthe I don't fret over power cycling routers and my FreeBSD boxes with ZFS, but have one Linux box running HomeAssistant - and it tends to corrupt the filesystem. And that's the real concern.
