ok so, one of the best Japanese links does a bomb recovery I don't see anyone else do when he's out of jumps and can't drift forward because he'd get edge guarded. a situation that happens pretty frequently in some matchups... #ssbu #ssbuLink
I finally had time to check to see exactly what he was doing and, its so damn easy on #smashbox because I don't have to worry about fast falling early with a tilt modifier.
there is an alternative but its slower, and leaves you drift locked for way longer and I think its harder to execute. Literally only seen this one Japanese link do it and don't know why... its so good lol.
@VentureSmash Do you have a link (pun not intended) of the player doing said bomb recovery?
@imjms737 there is no specific video where its explained. I will have to dig again through Pran Grix's Vods to find an example.
@imjms737 but, I can explain: pull bomb, buffered Zdrop, timed (not buffered) bair with c stick, hold forward at the same time as c stick input to drift in front of the bomb, timed (not buffered) bomb detonation.
@imjms737 SmashBox lets me avoid timing the bomb detonation input because I can hold down b without getting fastfall during the b-air animation.
@VentureSmash Interesting that an aerial is incorporated into the bomb recovery. Must be tricky to not accidentally hit or catch the bomb during the bair, but sounds interesting. Is it T who does it? (The only top-level Japanese link I know)
@imjms737
I randomly just noticed the recovery is in this clip from a while ago 🥳 https://youtube.com/shorts/sr4xyyKxefQ?feature=share

Unfortunately you can't see what the bomb is doing but, it's not tricky at all to avoid catching it. since you're buffering the z drop after bomb pull, and then timing the b-air input, it would be way harder to catch it if it's even possible!
