@wezm It was referring to the ARE: Australian Railway Enthusiasts which are now folding up in 2023, after 58 years (as the group was formed in 1961). The group was responsible for tours and charters that allowed rail fans to enjoy what has eventually turned into the four mainline heritage groups today.
@maxthum oh that’s bittersweet. Will the train continue to run after this?
@wezm absolutely, the four mainline groups (Steamrail Victoria, Seymour Railway Heritage Centre, Dermpav and Seven O Seven Operations) now carry on this legacy, with each group bringing on their unique approach to highlighting the best of rail preservation and heritage in Victoria and Interstate.
