Wow, I totally misremembered #StarTrek Generations. @mikemccaffrey I imagine they we’re probably putting out bigger fires (thought in movie world 9/10 they were extras filling the extra space because they were shooting in widescreen) I used to think she flew/crashed the ship too but right after the shockwave hits she says that helm controls are offline. Data essentially takes over by trying to reroute power to level their decent. She was only in control for the saucer separation and then the controls went down.
@KingStewart Yeah, I noticed that on my last rewatch of the scene. I wish she would have gotten the "using thrusters to level our descent" line instead of data and actually piloted the ship down instead of just sitting there doing nothing like a deer caught in headlights.
