I’m not looking to replace Twitter.

I don’t miss the crowded digital “town square” dominated by shouting egomaniacs & snake oil salesmen.

Sure, this place isn’t perfect. We must keep working to make it more welcoming & accessible for a wider range of people.

It also feels slower & less populated. But for me that’s the point. I get to have proper conversations here, and I learn things.

And no-one is cynically exploiting my attention for their own profit.

@stefanf28 There is sometimes a need to push the word out, and the need is for power, power for the people to connect and change the world. There will be platforms suitable for different things, but regardless, we must have a platform where the cry of the masses will be heard, and where the truths that affect us all will be quickly known.
Yes, there is an idiot programmer who says "only viruses go viral, well, he can can go get stuffed along the the Atomic Poet and the rest of those bullshit artists.
It will come. This is not it.

Twitter for me is nothing but a place full of hatred. Yesterday someone referred to me openly as a bottom sucker? Whatever that is and accused my son, openly of posing as an Editor and taking peoples money falsely. My son is a qualified and a professional Editor and works for me and me alone. I reported this person to Twitter for abuse. Nothing has been done. That's one of the reasons I am here.

@Amelia1
I’m sorry to hear that you had to experience that.

The way Twitter exploits user’s rage to signal boost hatred is a feature, not a bug - and that’s why proper moderation and safety features have never been a priority. And it’s why I don’t miss it either.

It did sometimes play an important role in building movements and exposing injustice, and I hope over time we can find ways to re-establish that elsewhere.
