My lawn has had its second mow of the year. Just before #NowMowMay. Many dandelions have been sacrificed but hopefully enough have survived in my #SayNoMow area which will be left till late summer or autumn.
My smaller front lawn has been left alone. As I have tried yellow-rattle and a wild seed mix for the third year hoping my poor attempt at a meadow will one day thrive.
"Hog forgive me for I have mowed..." It has been 35 days since my last confession.
As #NoMowMay has ended it was time cut the lawn back leaving just my #SayNowMow area to grow. The scythe helped cut back the tall stuff but the cordless mower did the rest.
The blackbirds and starlings now have a couple of weeks with a lawn to feed on. Hopefully some rain will come to help them forage for worms.

First time I have seen froglets in the grass this year. Hopefully my messy edges and the #SayNoMow area gave them enough of an escape route. πΈπ¦π¦
"Hog forgive me for I have mowed.... it has been 7 weeks since my last confession. "
My lawn has been left a little longer between mows than I had intended because of recent weekend weather.
This is probably the last mow before my #SayNoMow area faces the chop. I hope the visiting hedgehogs still find it useful hunting ground.

My #SayNoMow area is no more until next spring. At first I attacked it with a scythe and rake, to give the many froglets that were using it as cover, a fighting chance to escape. However even on the third pass with the mower I had to stop and rescue one.
With so many people talking about scarifying at the moment, I thought I would dig mine out and give it a go. I usually do this in late autumn but it was a lot easier at this time of year and it also doesn't look so bad.
I have also decided to mark out my #SayNoMow area. My house in on the market, so I was going to give it a miss this year. However as long as I can keep the rest of the garden looking smart then I should get away with it.
