I’m getting some impressed reactions to my recent #SwimLife updates so I want to clarify some things.

1. I’ve been swimming for over 30 years. Off & on but when you discover early what works for your body, your body also adapts to the activity a lot better & it’s easier to pick it back up even after a break.

2. The pool I currently swim in, is 25m (not 50m like a more professional pool). It is still called a lap because that’s just an unbroken swim from one end to another. I like this pool because unlike others, they keep the lanes clear even in crowded times. Makes a big difference.

After a double attack of COVID and due to natural ageing, I have some health conditions. I’m managing them as best I can. Swimming works for me (physically, logistically, financially). I’m not saying it’s the only way, just my way right now. #SwimLife
I post #SwimLife updates to hold myself accountable to the routine. My health issues have hit my motivation, confidence & ability to do things. It is a positive act for me to say something positive. My updates are not to brag or shame anyone not living the same kind of life.
You do you. Please love your body, as it is. I’d hate for you to get the wrong ideas about health, age or physical activity because of my #SwimLife updates.
“Wow so cool, you’re expert, what trophies have you won” type comments are not appreciation. I’ve never participated in swim contests. This is about my health. Many of my issues were caused by a competitive, goal-chasing life. I’ve no reason to bring that into swimming. Be well.
