Bluesky is going to take off and mastodon is going to be relegated to the Tumblr tier of social media sites past because people here keep coming up with excuses not to implement basic usability features like quote toots

@bro mastodon already failed when twitter culture showed up and poisoned the well

doubt things will improve much here even if that moves on to bluesky

@bro my biggest issue is threading. A handful of people doing ten post threads completely blows up my timeline.

@bro
Sure the Fediverse can be better but even if nothing changes and the bluesite becomes the new birdsite, I don’t see why I need Kim Kardashian to embrace the Fediverse to be happy.

And I’ve given up on the journalist I used to follow on Twitter ever coming here. It’s a nice to have but they aren’t nearly as important as I thought they were. Definitely not as important as they think they are.

The Fediverse has definitely crossed the threshold of being “enough.”

@tylervu
I'm glad it's enough for you! And i think the fediverse has definitely crossed a threshold in size where a lot of people will find it a fun and interesting place to hang out (tbqh Tumblr still is for a lot of people despite it having nowhere near the cultural reach it once did). But I definitely miss the network effects Twitter provides. I feel far less plugged into local politics and activist spaces here than I did at Twitter and that's important to me
@bro
Thanks. Reminding me why I still kinda miss Twitter.
@bro It would be a good thing if Mastodon became a ghost town again because sometimes people on Twitter are mean.
@bro @mtsw I don’t know the answer but fwiw had just said this

I think you all should try Post.news also. It’s got search, QTs, discovery, and a way to pay for the service and T&S that supports ad-free (surveillance-free) journalism. #bluesky

@bro Quote posts is on the official roadmap as a highest-priority feature.
