Carolyn Bryant, the woman who got Emmet Till lynched, has died.

Anyone who thinks Emmett Till being lynched in 1955 is ancient history should remember that 18 current members of Congress are older than him and the white woman Carolyn Bryant who got him lynched just *today* died—and that without any accountability whatsoever.

In short, this systemic racism and racial terror against Black people is not ancient history. It's not even history.

It's contemporary reality.

@QasimRashid The way the story has been repeated, and the way I heard it first is markedly different than the actual events. Woman as temptress (Eve, ie Karen) and the man as defenseless victims to her evil deception is a common social theme and convenient trope. No one remembers the names of the privaledged abusive murdering white men.

@GwladysPendlebury @QasimRashid Hmm, she wasn’t the one who told her husband about the *offense*. He was known to be abusive, a thing that was no more a crime at the time than murdering a black child. She’s not blameless, she’s not the cause of Emmett Till’s murder either.
