browser extension that replaces "AI" with "shitty algorithms"
@eniko to be fair, a lot of them are quite interesting algorithms... just like a nuclear bomb is a very interesting physical process though, interesting can have baaaaaaaaaad use cases πŸ˜”

@gureito @eniko

shitty autocomplete and tyrant misidentification of physical persons doesn't need any defending, and defending it just looks like bootlicking

@gureito yeah but none of the tech companies feverishly "pivoting" to AI are actually making anything good
@eniko πŸ˜” yep, hard agree on *that* point. i just get too pedantic on semantics sometimes, sorry.
@eniko @gureito The company I work for is trying really hard to get AI projects going. So far, the best thing they made is an assistant that helps us write our completely superfluous compliments to our coworkers when they request an evaluation by selecting which of their attributes we want to praise, instead of having to do it manually.

@eniko Haha I remember using for the longest time an extension that replaced IP (for intellectual property) with something completely inappropriate... πŸ˜…

I was so confused when I came back after a 2 months break from videogames news, reading that everywhere... πŸ˜† It was way more fun though!

@eniko my friends have started referring to AIs (well, LLMs at least) as Spicy Auto-complete πŸ˜‚
@Aequitas i guess when autocomplete starts gaslighting you it does qualify as pretty spicy!
@eniko shitty, non-debuggable algorithms
@c0dec0dec0de that's definitely part of what makes em shitty yea
@eniko I've been calling it "fancy autocomplete" to anyone who will listen lol
@The1Krutz @eniko I've referred to LLMs as "overbuilt markov chains" before
