Which would be worse, if a mobile game offered you their premium currency/gems in exchange for watching ads or in exchange for - timed amount of your device’s processing power to mine crypto? More importantly, why?

Watching ads. Because once you have the miner component installed, you'd always be suspecting it for any slow performance on your device, no matter how much or how little you used the game.

If it allowed me to play a game uninterrupted, and then run in the background while charging, the miner. That gives me a benefit of avoiding ads too.
