Capitalism is a magic system where a relative handful of douchebags screwing everyone over is somehow what’s best for all of society.

#capitalism

@aral because if you disagree that they should rule, they will fuck everything up.
@aral A rising tide lifts all yachts (and sinks the fishing boats and dinghies but who cares)
@aral it’s the dream of becoming a douchebag that makes people believe in the system. there are so many rags to douchebag stories. and lets remember the tiktoks and instagrams on how to earn money to become a douchebag for no skills at all
@aral ps. i think i woke up a tad angry today
@aral capitalism sucks as much as democracy, but honestly, it's the kleptocracy on corrupt, vile cronyism layered on top that is the special sauce of evil.

@aral

"Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows"

@aral *The US "laissez-faire", Dickensian experience of capitalism. It isn't anywhere near as bad in pretty much all other capitalist countries, which have enacted more regulation and socialised programs to offset its extremes. One shouldn't mistake a broken installation for broken software.

@aral
I live in a place where the Conservative/Republican State lawmakers are attempting to shut down their entire Public Library System as a way to protect their citizens from culturally sensitive information (like books and magazines). They also want to make sure it's harder to get quality healthcare and a social security when we hit retirement age.

Is that part capitalism?

@TopKnot @aral Keep them too poor, sick, and stupid to realize they should fight for something better.
@aral it sucks how we are all into it without even recognizing. Feeling bad if we are not productive or if we don't aspire to be someone. Many people, myself included that love to create stuff, soon turn into an entrepreneur, becoming in reality an employee of the markets instead of doing what we truly like.
Hope this will change soon

@aral

That's very truth. However after listening hundreds of hours of history, from on of the best Historian Italy's has to offer I got this conclusions: ancient and modern society are still based on the same lintel, the rich and poor binomial.

This hasn't changed from the ancient civilization, not even Communist regimes, not in the post-imperialism.

The one who got the power: before the monarchy, later the bourgeoisie, fight to preserve their privileges.

The wealth of each individual is built upon the relative poverty of another one. During the time of the absolute monarchies, there was more or less the same structure: the royal families, the courtesans, wealthy merchants, and thousand of thousand of poor peasants. And the democracy has been mainly regulated by pandemics.

Today is the same, with few differences because there are more wealthy people compared to the past, and therefore, since there is a ratio between the two parts, population is almost 7 billion.

I am not a researcher, I o not have data, so I am just speculating here, but for each individual income is required a group of people that doesn't have almost anything, you can call it inequality.

For this reason I laugh in front of the fear of AI stealing jobs. Those won't take over human works, because you can't make them poor.

Wealthy need poverty, without poor and poverty wealthy cannot exist. You may start to speculate that super wealthy are like parasite, they can't do almost anything, they don't do almost anything, they only rule since they got control over the time. But they are pretty useless without their money.

@aral

A new society must be thought around how breaking this ancestral rule that governs the society from centuries.

And we saw what damage has been creating: wars, pollution, global warming; an too many poor.

And I am not talking about communism, which is another bad recipe. Where communism arrived simply replaced an old oligarchy with a newer one; without considering that most industrial country is lead by communists.

Rethink the society is necessary as well as fighting the inequality, because the latter has the peculiarity be simultaneously the cause and effect of this problem.

@aral Capitalism is a miraculous system under which the things that sociopathic rich people do to enrich themselves further and destroy any possible barriers to even greater enrichment are--by total coincidence--a natural part of the universe, a gift from God, the bestest economic, social & political system that humans could ever achieve. And if you doubt that, there are lots of people paid to tell you it's true.
@aral Is this what the kids call virtue signaling? In my day we just called it being reductive or obtuse and people would generally ignore these non sequiturs as the mumblings of someone who didn't know enough to form a valid argument but just wanted some attention. I see you, little fella. I hear you. XX
@Stan_the_Buddhist I don’t know about that, Stan, but we still call what you are being an asshole.

@aral Yep, it's a system designed to exploit everything to make a hand full of sociopaths powerful, rich, and lazy. And it's literally destroying the world as well.

It's also fundamentally incompatible with democracy, because it allows people with money to just buy the government and tell it what to do.

@aral That's some funky dark magic there indeed.
@aral the same applies to communism, any religion, fascism, any ism to be true...
