Capitalism is a magic system where a relative handful of douchebags screwing everyone over is somehow what’s best for all of society.

"Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows"

I live in a place where the Conservative/Republican State lawmakers are attempting to shut down their entire Public Library System as a way to protect their citizens from culturally sensitive information (like books and magazines). They also want to make sure it's harder to get quality healthcare and a social security when we hit retirement age.
Is that part capitalism?
That's very truth. However after listening hundreds of hours of history, from on of the best Historian Italy's has to offer I got this conclusions: ancient and modern society are still based on the same lintel, the rich and poor binomial.
This hasn't changed from the ancient civilization, not even Communist regimes, not in the post-imperialism.
The one who got the power: before the monarchy, later the bourgeoisie, fight to preserve their privileges.
The wealth of each individual is built upon the relative poverty of another one. During the time of the absolute monarchies, there was more or less the same structure: the royal families, the courtesans, wealthy merchants, and thousand of thousand of poor peasants. And the democracy has been mainly regulated by pandemics.
Today is the same, with few differences because there are more wealthy people compared to the past, and therefore, since there is a ratio between the two parts, population is almost 7 billion.
I am not a researcher, I o not have data, so I am just speculating here, but for each individual income is required a group of people that doesn't have almost anything, you can call it inequality.
For this reason I laugh in front of the fear of AI stealing jobs. Those won't take over human works, because you can't make them poor.
Wealthy need poverty, without poor and poverty wealthy cannot exist. You may start to speculate that super wealthy are like parasite, they can't do almost anything, they don't do almost anything, they only rule since they got control over the time. But they are pretty useless without their money.
A new society must be thought around how breaking this ancestral rule that governs the society from centuries.
And we saw what damage has been creating: wars, pollution, global warming; an too many poor.
And I am not talking about communism, which is another bad recipe. Where communism arrived simply replaced an old oligarchy with a newer one; without considering that most industrial country is lead by communists.
Rethink the society is necessary as well as fighting the inequality, because the latter has the peculiarity be simultaneously the cause and effect of this problem.
@aral Yep, it's a system designed to exploit everything to make a hand full of sociopaths powerful, rich, and lazy. And it's literally destroying the world as well.
It's also fundamentally incompatible with democracy, because it allows people with money to just buy the government and tell it what to do.
