@Viking

I posted this cause it's what got her censured. while a bit hardcore, I don't think she deserved that. my bet is much worse has been said about war and abortion.

we take kids from abusive or negligent parents all the time. my guess is there's anti mRNA vax folks who think parents having their kids get vaccinated was problematic. trans is complicated. some kids claim to be in the wrong body since they start talking. others seem more influenced by society. IDK.

@wjmaggos @Viking I don’t like this, but isn’t there precedent for be censured after making accusations during official proceedings? #MTG got censured after calling #Mayorkas a liar, and what #ZooeyZephyr did was way worse.

Granted, I don’t like either case. #ZooeyZephyr’s statements were incredibly despicable and incendiary, but he didn’t violate any laws, and should be able say whatever unless it violates the first amendment.

These were just words; not the same as actively stirring up a crowd, as was the case with the #TennesseeThree.

the T3 broke the rules. punish them but don't kick them out. did ZZ even break any rules? not sure re MTG but personal attacks that name someone seems worse than saying you will all live in shame for this vote etc.

@wjmaggos @Viking Calling people liars and calling people murderers don’t seem equal to me. I feel like being a murderer is worse than lying.

@realcaseyrollins @Viking

maybe it's never been said exactly this way in a legislature, but don't pro life people call support for abortion being on the side of baby murder? I've gotta think lots of laws are referred to as leading to more lives lost etc, just as a way of bringing a sense of human costs to budget votes. less money for mental health treatment will mean more suicides and domestic abuse etc.

@wjmaggos @Viking This is a good point. We do, yes, but like you said, I’m not sure that it’s been said during a legislative session.

I’ve gotta think lots of laws are referred to as leading to more lives lost etc, just as a way of bringing a sense of human costs to budget votes. less money for mental health treatment will mean more suicides and domestic abuse etc.

This is all true, but it’s still different than calling people murderers.
