Today I learned wtf a "Hurdy Gurdy" is.
I know Middle Age instruments demand godlike craftwork but this thing is ridiculous levels of complex. I thought I didn't like folk music, until I heard the bass drop on this Hurdy Gurdy track.

@RobertMaguire it has a relative in the Nyckelharpa, which has a similar tonality but uses a bow instead of crank and gets. Different. Results.
However. Also crazy complex in its design.

@ShaneB a friend keeps repeating “Scandinavian winters” whenever things like this show up. Something about long dark months and intricate indoor hobbies.
