Can we pair it with an age maximum for service in the Senate?
@brendannyhan
The Senate has whatever age limit voters impose already.
@GreenFire @brendannyhan Well, social media has whatever age limit parents impose already.

@TonChryso @brendannyhan
"Well, social media has whatever age limit parents impose already."

Have you ever been a parent? If so yours seems to have been different than the experience I had. I restricted my children's access to porn for example through my router, so they spent more time at their friends houses. Should I have kept them from going outside the house?

@GreenFire @brendannyhan Have you been a voter?

We can play this all day.

Yes, I'm a parent. I'm also not an idiot, so my primary contribution to managing my kids' porn consumption is talking to them about it and recommending the good stuff that doesn't warp their healthy approach to sexuality.

At least as a parent you have some influence. As a voter that entirely depends on where you live and whether Republicans have the ability to prevent your vote from counting.

@GreenFire @TonChryso @brendannyhan Super curious how you think they (government or site owners) are going to do a better job at this.

@GreenFire @TonChryso @brendannyhan I am a parent. The solution to social media and porn is not to ban it. That does nothing to solve any problems.

Like a abstinence programs - It always makes the situation worse.

Instead, prepare them to handle it properly and safely.

Something our generation never got. And one reason why we are so screwed up over it.

@Danielsand @GreenFire @brendannyhan I mean, I found ways to access porn when it actually required effort...

@TonChryso @GreenFire @brendannyhan (/me and my older brother squints at unscrambled static on an unscrambled cable channel) “Was that nipple?”

But seriously - yup. They will find a way. We all did. Why let them make the same mistakes we did?

@GreenFire @TonChryso @brendannyhan No, we should all suffer because you can’t control your children
@GreenFire I just love how that sentence suggests that your desired result is for your kids to watch porn in their friends house 👨‍🍳💋
And I'd distinguish between "I intend them to not to" and "they can't". Younger generations are often times way more tech savvy than the previous ones 😉
