@timkmak This reminds me of Chris Allbritton aka @Chrisallbritton who in 2003 launched the "Back to Iraq" blog, a reader-supported effort to cover the war in Iraq. He went on to a distinguished career as a foreign correspondent from many of the world's trouble spots. In this way you're in good company.
