Did Bernie Sanders do the right thing by immediately endorsing Biden after Biden’s announcement?

I want to hear your thoughts…

Yes, it eliminated all doubt about what he is

@flexghost

Is the report about no Dem primary debates true?

If so I’m not happy in general.

Don’t really wanna just run 2020 back.

Would be nice to have an open field

@ShieldHero85 the problem is it’s vote for some do nothing corporate dope or have fascism.
@flexghost Yes. A primary challenge almost always hurts the incumbent in the general election. Why throw the GOP a bone?
@flexghost standing on the sidelines without a vote, but a long time interest in US politics, I think it’s useful to shore up the Democrat/centre left vote…but you guys do have good politicians who are not also collecting a pension. I fear Biden’s decision to run again opens the door to something deeply unpleasant.
@flexghost Yes. American democracy itself is stake. Instead of having a divisive Presidential contest, we are better off focusing on winning back Congress and state legislatures.

@flexghost sigh...yes. I campaigned for Bernie. I LOVE me some Uncle Bernie. But it looks like Trump will probably be the nominee, and for whatever reason Biden is uniquely positioned to take him on. And honestly I'm not looking to trade out one Octogenarian for another.

So fine, 4 more years if he's up to it.

@Tweetfiction ❤️❤️

If we have to have a dinosaur it may as well be an incumbent one

@Tweetfiction @flexghost Biden probably has the best odds of winning, especially if Trump is the Republican nominee. That said, I don’t care too much which Democrat is the president. If Biden resigns 2 years into it and Harris becomes president so be it.

@flexghost Yes.

Simplisticly Biden is to the left of the democrats in the Senate and the republicans in the House so the actual battle for power is the Senate and the House.

@flexghost Yes. After the last primary it became clear to him he can't get the nomination even though he is popular. Joe Biden has moved the Democrat needle slightly more toward progressive politics so I don't think Sanders has as much motivation to try to make a drastic change now. I really wish Biden was Dark Brandon 80% of the time instead of so status quo but with the shit sandwich he was handed he has done a decent job. Prosecutions are WAY too slow, the Fed is being too heavy-handed, and weapons supplies to Ukraine has been too slow and barely adequate, but the actions themselves haven't been wrong. We have a president of not-quite-enough as opposed to one doing the wrong thing and that is way better than the alternative. I think Sanders is probably reasonably pleased with Biden's performance.
@InorganicFella which was a surprise, too!
@flexghost um, what aspect of my rambling was a surprise? Sanders being pleased or Biden being somewhat progressive?
@flexghost
Absolutely
He really screwed us by helping trump and almost gave it to trump a second time
Government isn't a game, it's a tricky 3 dimensional chess match and requires an experienced player.
Biden has more than proven himself
If you think there is someone who can continue the recent progress without being crushed by Republicans if they get a majority, please explain.
@flexghost I'm not surprised, I would not expect Bernie to run again. I don't think Biden should be the candidate and I'm frustrated that there won't be a real primary. Biden failed to secure the Senate and he's done very little to contain the rise of fascism during his term. I don't understand the Biden fans telling me this election will be different.
@flexghost Absolutely. The last thing Dems need now is a primary fight.
@flexghost absolutely. Biden is doing a great job.
@LeaBug I have to admit that he is. And I wasn’t a fan before
@flexghost I wanted Mayor Pete and Warren on a ticket. Biden out did all my expectations.
@flexghost DNC worked real hard to bring him to heel after challenging their Chosen Ones - had him signing support contracts and making loyalty oaths to their regime just to run a Democratic ticket... Feels like watching an old tiger at the zoo whose had all the wild beat out of them.
@flexghost Yes. Vote blue, no matter who is the way to defeat the MAGAts before Trump is in prison. 2028 is the year for new D blood eg AOC
@flexghost
Absolutely. Republicans are going to play every dirty trick in the book. Playing Dems against each other is essential.
@flexghost
POV If I were American, I'd prefer Bernie as President
@flexghost Bernie is a true Democrat. So him endorsing a fellow Democrat, is the only option. PS: It's was a great decision by Bernie. Pres. Biden should feel blessed to be endorsed by the Vermont senator.
@flexghost By endorsing Biden now it takes away all the BS story lines the media had lined up.
@NeveranR and they def had them lined up
@flexghost
Yes.
No hints of descension...
Lots of successes for Biden.
Support the ticket, because we know the MAGAts will unite around the ignorance and fascism for sure.
Democrats need to:
Lock formation & move forward.
@flexghost looks like he lost Tad Devine’s phone number
@flexghost I think that Bernie doesn't plan on running and he definitely doesn't want another Trump or DeSantis.
