@suswatibasu None of these answers cover my opinion, so I won't vote.

I won't knowingly read an AI-written non-fiction book because these "AIs" (large language models do not constitute true intelligence) make things up at a high rate.

I won't knowingly read an AI-written fiction book because I don't believe an LLM has an imagination to transform characters and scenarios from rote into something that feels absorbing.

@suswatibasu No, they can't produce original thought as a fiction writer does.

@suswatibasu No, although it's not that it's cheating. For non fiction, it's unlikely to be completely factual, and for fiction, there's enough human-written drivel out there that I'm not about to waste my time with AI-written drivel.

You should check the assumptions in your poll.

@tannat it's a conversation starter but thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate them!
@suswatibasu Biases in, biases out, just like LLM.
@tannat I agree! That is the problem. Just read a book about white male cisgender people programming most of this.
@suswatibasu I wouldn’t, but not because it’s cheating, but because I want to support authors.
@suswatibasu no, I absolutely would not read them. It would be an insult towards all artists who put their hearts and souls into what they do (often not receiving the praise, reward and admiration they deserve) only to be virtually put second place by a computer who'd been fed a bunch of random codes and having to make space for some idiots who think they have created "art". There are too many talented artists in this world who had to abandon their dreams to survive. Let's support them instead.
@suswatibasu I haven't even visited ChatGPT website yet. I guess this is enough explanation.🤣

@suswatibasu as the only person who said yes, let me explain

If I read a book, and I liked it, and you said it was written by an LLM, that wouldn’t lessen the book for me.

But, that’s never going to happen? LLMs are really boring writers?

the fact that the book was written by an LLM doesn’t particularly matter to me. I care if the book is good.

Perhaps I took the question too abstractly. “Would you read a good book written by an ethically created AI?” Sure. I’ll enjoy it in my flying car.

@MrEnthusiasm I appreciate your answer, thank you!
@suswatibasu I would not read them, because I don't think AI have anything interesting to say, there's still "nobody home". People interest me.
@suswatibasu no, but because the content probably wouldn’t be good.
