It’s no surprise that the same people who want to ban abortion think that children should be allowed to be married at age 12, that a woman should be forced to carry and bear her rapists’ baby, and that sex ed and topics like consent and assault should not be taught in schools.

Adding this from Jess Piper @piper4missouri

“They want... to keep us poor, pregnant, and desperate...there is a concerted effort on the part of the GOP to force ignorance into our communities by deleting sex ed, history... They will keep us undereducated so we can work for less...They will force pregnancy on young girls to keep them hopeless of ever getting out of poverty. They will keep an education a dream with the only option being a lifetime of debt…”

@piper4missouri: I was married at 18, pregnant at 19, and a mom by 20. I am from rural Arkansas and I am not an anomaly. I was actually proud to say I wasn't a teenage mom....

@fsinn These examples from the deep south remind me of one example from Pakistan, near the Afghanistan border. The mom was married at 13 & had her eldest son at 14.

The difference is that it shocks most Pakistanis & that the mom would have been in the silent generation.

Some Americans have the exact same thinking as early 20th c Pathans.
