We have chosen to take the worst possible route for the internet in the past couple decades. We chose centralized services controlled by a few conglomerates.
This has proven to be a shattering of our privacy, it has led to monopolies on information. To too much control of governments and companies on the internet and what is allowed to be said.
This is what we choose when we sought to use other people's computers without paying. Advertising was imminent.
We must return to decentralization.
The only remnant left of the decentralized Internet left and is amazing in its operation is torrents. It is such a. Wonderful tool, where the users contribute and are contributing while getting.
@Riyadh144 Was this really "chosen" though? The alternatives just weren't good enough back then. Superior technology prevailed, it just coincidentally happened to flow along the preexisting channels of corporate & government power... it never could have scaled globally otherwise. only now after decades of innovation & progress can the paradigm possibly shift.
