@Princejvstin Yeah, I know, but it’s not internally consistent in Musk’s worldview: Krugman’s crying because he’s getting the “premium service” for free? But it does tell us that Musk now knows that Blue is a debacle and won’t make him much money.
Ernie Smith@jakemiller @Princejvstin The weird thing is that Krugman wasn’t even tweeting about the checkmark. That was literally his only comment about any of the recent Twitter drama—just confusion that it was bestowed upon him.
For someone crying about something you sure think he would bring it up more.

@Princejvstin @nightscotsman @Popehat I don’t think anything is inevitable with a guy with this big a credit line. Economic pressures (well-considered) kept old-Twitter from trying to charge for badges. Hubris and capital mean Musk can not bother to understand it! But pay-only was obviously dumb, and so ambiguity is better. But the explanation is wrong based on awarding for notability, haha!
