Why is it sometimes deadly to go to a mistaken address in America? Because we now have 450 million guns, with 60 million sold just since 2020--and because we suffer from the mass delusion that a gun in the home is protective. In fact, this has been much studied, and a gun in the home significantly increases the likelihood that a resident is murdered. If people knew that they are many, many times more likely to kill themselves with a gun than an intruder, maybe they would pause some before buying a gun and thinking it's a panacea to their insecurities...
