We are living in this dual world where half of the political spectrum operates under the belief that it will be necessary to overthrow the US government someday when enough gun owners get angry enough. That’s the militia. The other side pretends they don’t think that because that’s treasonous.
So make them say it. Ask them what it is.

Joe Turpin@Sheril those 6000 injuries were the result of the product functioning perfectly, unfortunately. Nothing to recall, but I get the point. It's about the priorities of the majority and what seems like a paranoid distrust and fear of being left in a defenseless position that results in favoring hazard over safety. Any regulation is seen as a threat to that, but it's clear to the minority that the opposite is true. I wonder what the threshold will be to change minds.

Gargravar@Sheril Toys and food do something they are not intended to do: kill people. They are recalled. Guns do precisely what they are intended to do: kill people. They aren't recalled.
It doesn't seem like a particularly acute observation to me, or one that's going to convert anybody from their existing positions.
At best, that is a line of argument that calls for the effective regulation of a potentially deadly item... a line of argument which is far more difficult to ridicule.
