LOOKIT THIS little free library robot and its cute lil robot eyes and arrrrgh why am I burning life writing ic test programs when I could be making I mean I know why but gzemphykezzzzmph
@smellsofbikes I love that!
@vwdasher I honestly feel a little guilty that my tig welder is sitting idle when it could be doing stuff like this.
@smellsofbikes Hey think of it as inspo! I love seeing what people have done with their little libraries. I have one near me that has lighting in it, it's so cute. This is the first robot one I've seen!
@vwdasher I maintain/refill a couple but they're repurposed newspaper dispensers: very good for the purpose but visually uninspiring. This is just amazing.
@smellsofbikes Most of the ones I've seen here in Melbourne, Australia are home made ones or repurposing stuff like old cabinets.
@vwdasher 80% of the ones here are made of five pieces of plywood and (poor design) a swinging glass door, that gets broken and is hazardous. The newspaper boxes, in contrast, might be able to survive being hit by a car, have lots of space, and have repair parts commercially available.
Maintaining something like the robot would be a drag, but that's why you just keep adding welding rod until it's indestructible.
@smellsofbikes Oh absolutely! Most of ours are installed in people's front yards so they're generally looking after them and some people get quite creative in the decoration and design.
