I'm sorry but this is just the funniest shit ever.

These losers were mad that celebs had checkmarks and they didn't. Now they can buy the same checkmark and they're mad that the celebs won't.

@rodhilton Ok, I am totally lost because I tried to consume less #SpaceKaren news. But this seems super confusing to me. So I get that there is #Twitterblue now it is 8 $/m and as a celebrity you need it to keep your authentication. But it is also available for everybody who is willing to pay? So is there a process to get the check marks? Are they verifying peoples identities? Because if they do not what is the benefit of the check mark. Besides proving you had 8 $, right? What am I missing?

@lazy_dragon You’ve got it right. The check mark doesn’t mean verified anymore, it only means you paid. Because Musk isn’t trying to verify people, he’s trying to monetize blue checks because he knew they had value but didn’t understand why.

If it was just about verification, a one-time fee for unverified users would have been enough, not a monthly fee. And even then, there’s no reason to verify average people because nobody was impersonating them.

@lazy_dragon @rodhilton you’re not missing anything. in the old days, you had to go through a serious verification process to get that check. i understand it to have been a big undertaking to get. which was great. it = trust. now you pay $8. that’s it. there is no value to the check. it does not = trust. and that’s what they - the turds - refused to understand and accept.
@amongmadpeeps @rodhilton Ok, I kind of get it … I think. So it is like a NFT. You are paying to get a worthless online token and some internet bro is making money off you. So it is another #SpaceKaren grift. But I mean it might work.
“No one […] has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses […]."
@lazy_dragon @rodhilton it might work. i mean, look at rupert murdoch’s empire. elin’s got the money to through at the thing. So does the Saudi Arabian Kingdom Holding Company, the 2nd largest shareholder of twitter
