SFMTA said they will have a design for curbside protected bike lanes with protected intersections and floating Muni boarding islands within 1–2 weeks.
We are happy to see SFMTA taking action and we look forward to seeing the designs soon.
We continue to demand immediate action.
This grassroots movement started with, and has been led by, advocates from District 1 and throughout our city, and has been supported by people around the world 👏🏻🙏🏻
People are demanding protected bike lanes on Arguello and throughout San Francisco. We will accept nothing less…
…because people on bikes, our city, and the planet deserve nothing less.
For far too long, SFMTA, elected officials, and City government has ignored the needs of people on bikes, our roadway safety crisis, and the climate crisis.
No more.
People and the planet deserve better.
I won’t stop advocating for protected bike lanes until our city has a citywide network of protected bike lanes, and I won’t accept delays, “compromises,” or “experiments.”
On Arguello, we won’t stop advocating until there are protected bike lanes and intersections installed 🚲✊🏻

With your help, we will get protected bike lanes installed on Arguello ✊🏻
On April 4, 2023, USA Cycling champion Ethan Boyes was killed by a driver on Arguello in the Presidio and, on November 17, 2022, a 16-year old on a bicycle was critically injured by a car driver on Arguello at California. In 2022, 37 people died on San Francisco streets due to traffic violence, with only two more years to reach Vision Zero (zero traffic fatalities and injuries). The City and County of San Francisco adopted Vision Zero as a policy in 2014, committing to build better and safer streets, educate the public on traffic safety, enforce traffic laws, and adopt policy changes that save lives. This petition is calling for protected bike lanes on Arguello Boulevard between Fulton Street and Washington Boulevard in the Presidio.
