Hey all, how we feel about AI stuff here? You all following it?
@danielmiessler I'm following it. To be honest I'm not afraid of it and I'm currently using it myself, and being more productive than ever. I think it's fantastic and very helpful but we must be very careful regarding some of the answers, sometimes chatGPT does terrible errors and not always present us with the most appropriate solution to our problem. I look at it like an assistant, but incapable for now, to replace us completely. For now... Regarding the future and assuming that it will evolve I guess we will need to rethink society and jobs in order to avoid a big rupture in the job market with thousands of unemployments. Maybe start to think about UBI and this kind of stuff. But I surely embrace the future of AI for the good of humanity.
@danielmiessler Btw I'm a senior software developer and a cybersecurity consultant. I'm not affraid of chatGPT and I'm anxious for gpt4, which has a context of 32K tokens that will allow it to analyse more complex problems, not only technical ones. The potential to help humanity is enormous.
@danielmiessler On the one hand, I'm feeling the same sense of dread I felt watching Covid moving through Wuhan - something is coming which will change the world and be incredibly disruptive. On the other hand, I also feel incredibly excited - there is exponential improvement in the models between generations, and I've become more and more dependent on chatgpt. Kurzweil talking about singularities in 2035 back in 2005 was fun to read, but well off in the future. Sitting here in 2023 and watching what is going on feels all a bit real.
@danielmiessler I think it has as much potential for good and for ill as any technology does.
