@JamesGleick @mmasnick I try not to judge too harshly most times and I appreciate why people whose livelihood depends on it are there. Not sure I'm there yet but we are fast approaching the point where I think less of those still contributing to it.

The thing is, it is strategically unwise to not establish a presence here as a hedge against Twitter imploding or getting shut down by one regulator or another, not to mention a decent chance of getting booted off.

we noticed... several interesting discussions were destroyed because the accounts were suspended ... journalists and human rights crusaders just really saying the truth... I wonder what is a good alternative to Twitter

@Annevelink_AD @JamesGleick I’m not and haven’t pursued it. I’m not interested in another walled garden. They say it’s based on an “open” protocol, but so far I’ve only seen clients—and we’ve seen API rug-pulls before. https://github.com/bluesky-social/atproto-ecosystem

If they begin to have multiple independent server implementations (preferably federated), I’ll be interested.

@JamesGleick Musk suppresses the left on Twitter in general, which makes it harder to challenge the growing insanity of the right. For example you are suppressed if you mention gay or trans.

Imagine investing so much on something that you know can go puff at any moment, without any plan B at a minimum....Makes me question the intelligence of some. Not to mention their integrity, as the way to "not go puff" is to not do anything to offend the toddler CEO.
