I had to make a dentist appointment today and the receptionist offered me 2.30 on Monday. I laughed (that old chestnut!). She stared at me. I said "2.30? Get it? Tooth hurty?". She just raised her eyebrows at me. I mean, it's got to be one of the oldest jokes around but she just gave me a pained kind of "let's just be nice to the mad lady" forced smile. I can't work out if she's never heard it (impossible in a dentist surely?) or is just sick of it (entirely possible!). Either way, I was delighted with it 🤣
