@stux That imposter looks a lot like the sheep dogs I saw on a trip to Sardinia a few years ago. The dogs are actually raised with the herds of sheep that they guard so that they become a member of the herd. They are fiercely protective, I certainly wouldn't go into a field with one of them!

Yeah, I always wondered why the flock guard dogs look like the flock!

Is the idea that the wolves don't know which one is the guard dog, so they avoid the sheep too?

@FediThing @stux Yeah, I think that's the idea alright. The dogs are pretty well hidden in the flock, but if you're walking down the road and get too close to the fence, you will rapidly figure out that "sheep" racing toward you has great big teeth!
