we really have to stop taking these "labor shortage" arguments at face value. The number of unemployed persons per job opening in Iowa is unchanged since prior to covid. These laws are designed to

1) combat increase union activity

@rbreich John Oliver's segment on agricultural labor this week was pretty shocking. Why are conservatives not up in arms about child labor? Because it is mostly immigrant workers, frequently undocumented, who look nothing like the law makers.
