Catching up! Just posted volumes 15 & 16 of my #composition #notebooks online at https://notebook.caitlinrowley.com - this brings things up to early August 2022, with intense work towards the end on From the Exquisite Dark, but also some bits on A Memory of Wind & some other bits & pieces. Almost back on track! #PracticeAsResearch #ArtisticResearch #PracticeBasedResearch
Notebook – Caitlin Rowley's composition notebooks

@minim Youbdo good notebooks. I like the page with the multiple photos and the (bus?) ticket.
@colorblindcowboy thanks! 15/16 July? That was a great exhibition - I took LOADS of photos - was really hard to pick just 3 to put in the book - Tanoa Sasraku's Terratypes - info & (much MUCH better!) pics at the Spike Island website: https://www.spikeisland.org.uk/programme/exhibitions/tanoa-sasraku/
Tanoa Sasraku - Spike Island

A major new commission by artist Tanoa Sasraku sees the artist rendering monoliths and megaliths in thread-bound newsprint.

@minim You’re inspiring me. Do you just print out on a home inkjet printer?
@colorblindcowboy heh. So glad! Yes, just my home printer (hence looking pretty crappy). It’s a colour laser but the idea (for me) is to have the images there as a sort of aide memoire for me and an indicator for others of the sort of thing I’m thinking about, so keeping things easy has been key here, which getting photos properly printed wouldn’t be. I’d love to hear how you find working this way if you try it out.
@minim I have this little Canon camera with an integrated thermal printer. It prints onto sticky backed paper. Tends to be what I use since my printer is such an ink hog. But I need to go back to incorporating receipts and things.
@colorblindcowboy oh NICE. I looked briefly at those a while back but didn’t have any spare cash at the time. Maybe I should look again - would you recommend whichever model you have?
@colorblindcowboy (also, full disclosure: I don’t print & glue (or colour) every day but process images in a clump every now and then, using a combination of pencilled notes, image created dates & my memory to ensure things are in the right place, but it feels like the thermal printer could encourage more regular additions perhaps?)
@minim It could, yeah, since you’re taking a step or two out of the workflow. My camera (Canon Ivy Cliq) is an older model that prints the photo right after it takes it. A newer model lets you use it as a printer as well. I like the instant, you-get-what-you-get aesthetic. And the “paper” is pretty chea. Plus, you can do your pages when you’re out in the world, on vacation, whatever.
@colorblindcowboy cute. thanks! I'll investigate!
