A Ramadan soon ends—shout out to front line Muslim workers on their feet all day while fasting for 15 hours.

I’ve been there. The long retail hours. The double shifts as a waiter that pays $2.13/hr. The dry lips & hoarse throat. The thirst. The work so incessant you realize the time to break fast was over an hour ago and you completely forgot to eat. And all the worse if you work outdoors. Exhausting is an understatement.

Thank you. I know that doesn’t count for much. But we see you. Godspeed.

@QasimRashid they should get an exemption for water. It can be life threatening surely God doesn’t want that for humans
@wildflower If fasting is life threatening for you Islam doesn’t permit you to fast. It’s that simple.

I am not Muslim. So I don't want to speak over a Muslim voice. But also that's a very poor take, probably based on ignorance so I want to offer not that.

Muslim people aren't allowed to fast if they have health issue. Threats to life aren't a mitzvah. You can't even fast when you're on your period. I did fast for Ramadan about 10 years ago. Because I wanted to know. I could not do it again because I am no longer healthy enough to do so.

@QasimRashid when I see a hijabi mama in the grocery store with two kids in the cart and one in a sling and I know that she's fasting. I am so moved every time by that level of devout. I can't imagine.
@QasimRashid Faith is a test of our spiritual resolve. Tests arnae meant tae be easy, they are tests of trust and character and I time of reflection. I wish my Muslim friends a Ramadan Mubarek and soon Eid Saeed!
@QasimRashid wow 15hrs, hats off to them 👏
@QasimRashid I always feel for people working food trucks...

@QasimRashid
Don’t know how you do it

I’ve played hockey with players who were fasting, that must be so hard
