Valve rolls out Proton 8.0 to further improve Steam Deck and Linux gaming

After a bit of a wait since the Wine 8.0 release, Valve has now released Proton 8.0, the latest version of their Windows translation layer for Steam Deck and Linux desktop.

@gamingonlinux Do you know if games using the default compatibility setting on Steam automatically move over to the new version 8 when it becomes available?

@namenotfound Not unless Valve specifically set proton-stable to be Proton 8, which I doubt they will do right away
