You jump down from the window and run to capture the stick. You manage to trap the tip of it in your mouth. The girl looks confused and tries to shake it, but you hold on tight. The mother and father blink and stop walking. They look at you, but the little girl doesn't. It's as if the girl has no idea you're there. She tries to pull the stick towards her and down towards the ground, but you hold fast.

Keeping the stick in your mouth you curl up at the little girl's feet. Mother and father go still, staring down at you. A few moments later they start laughing. Father takes the girl's stick and gently tries to pry it from your iron jaws.

As father tries to pry the stick from your jaws, you watch him closely. Anticipating his moves you hop into the air, startling him. You land on your paws as the stick comes down in turn, and go from simply not allowing him to take the stick to jumping with it when he tries to pull it away.
Finally getting bored you let him take the stick back. He hands it back to his daughter before explaining what happened. Now knowing you're there, she reaches out a hand towards you.

Purring, you paw your way closer to the little girl, rubbing against her leg as she kneels down to pet you. The parents talk among themselves, and then to their daughter as she strokes your fur.
It suddenly hits you that they're talking about taking you home!

You rub up against the little girl's leg for another few moments before getting bored. Deciding to celebrate the best way you know how, you start to run around in circles. Mother and father let you for a few minutes before mother picks you up. Soon, you're out of the shop and being placed in a little pet carrier in the car.

You deserve better than to be trapped in this tiny box. Determined to get your new humans to let you out, you let out a long, loud meow.
It doesn't work, so you try again. And again.
The battle of wills between feline and human finally seems to shift when you notice the little girl's hand moving out of the corner of your eye. She's brushing her fingers over the holes in the crate, as if she's trying to find you.

Thinking you might be able to get the little girl to open the crate you're stuck in, you let her fingers find your head. You press against the side of the crate and purr, and you do have to admit the little girl gives decent scritches. This continues on for some time, but you're no closer to getting out of your prison.

As nice as the scritches are, your feline mind has other priorities. First among them is getting out of your crate. You step away from the side of the crate and roll onto your back, pawing at the girl's hand through the crate. She just leaves it there, confused by your behavior. You feel the car turn and slow. Maybe you're close to home?

You lift your head, leaving your paw pressed against the side of the crate. Mustering up all your annoyance you let out a long, low meow. The car hits a fairly noticeable bump as it slows, then stops. Mother picks up your crate and carries you into the house, then sets it down. Much to your joy the latch is pulled, and you have an easy exit.

Not wanting to remain in here for another second, you dash out of the crate and onto the carpet of your new home. The family sits on the couch, watching you. You spy the door to the kitchen propped open, there are stairs nearby leading upwards, and there's a cat tower in the corner by the window.

If there's one thing you know instinctively is that he who has height has power. Resolved to claim what is essentially a throne for cats you make a running leap, landing on the third and highest level of your tower. The material underfoot is much softer than you were expecting. You could nap here if you wanted to. There's also the window to examine, or you could look for some way to assert your dominance.

You let out a yawn, stretch, pat the floor of your domaine with your paws and close your eyes.
When you wake up, it's dark and very very quiet, save for a strange buzzing sound. It seems to be moving about the room. You've heard it before in the pet store you were kept at, but you were never able to do anything about it then.
