Today is the 161 year anniversary of the Compensated Emancipation Act. On April 16, 1862, Washington D.C. paid reparations for ending slavery—to the enslavers.

Yep—white supremacist enslavers got reparations for giving up the people they enslaved. The enslaved got nothing. Ever.

To this day the enslaved or their descendants have received zero reparations for building the foundation of America under centuries of enslavement, torture, rape, & murder.

If they’re not male or not white but they’re still rich …. they’ll likely still be taken care of but the white rich men will almost always hesitate, at least briefly.
