Again, some people can’t leave Twitter. If that’s you, I empathize.

That was once me. For 7 years, my livelihood depended on Twitter.

Why? Because I helped build a popular Twitter client (Hootsuite), and that client helped feed my family.

I couldn’t leave if I wanted.

But my personal and financial situation has changed, and now I’m putting a significant amount of time and income towards helping people migrate away from Twitter.

@atomicpoet I mass deleted all tweets, RTs, likes and DMs back in Oct. Stuck around for a while to get updates from specific people, but now my account is locked and I’m just keeping it to protect the handle.

The positive impact on my mental health and general well-being has been significant.

And most importantly, it’s exciting to be part of building something new with a community that generally wants to get this right.

@stefanf28 @atomicpoet Same. Protecting my handle is the only reason my account still exists. I got it the very first month Twitter went live over a decade ago, and I'd never get it back if I let it go.
