Mastodon was UNDER a million members when Elron the lumpy bought twitter.
Last week it reached 10 million.
Today it is Eleven Million.
Mastodon is growing faster than a million and a half a month at the moment. Should pass twitter before fall.

The code is written and being deployed. Wordpress is working to integrate with Mastode-verse, tumblr is connecting, video tools, audio, and all the rest.

Hi @kevinrns, there must be a slight mistake in the numbers. Elon Musk bought Twitter on October 27, 2022. At that date, the Fediverse had 6 million users and Mastodon had about 5 million.

Hey, so, we've hit 1,028,362 monthly active users across the network today. 1,124 new Mastodon servers since Oct 27, and 489,003 new users. That's pretty cool.
I suppose youre right, I'd heard under 100 million, and doubted it wasn't 14% elon now.

In other words, the number of active users is not the same as the total number of users who've registered but might have only tooted once or twice (or never). Eugen's 1M estimate was for *active* users defined in some way over a month.

@kevinrns I have read report Twitter has over 300M monthly active users and over 200M daily active users. But Mastodon supposedly has about 1.2M DAU. Mastodon may be growing fast but no way will it "pass twitter before fall".
But, don't forget Meta is threatening to bring a text only Instagram to the Fediverse and Tumblr is looking to federate too. That could cause huge growth assuming everyone doesn't block their instances.
