I think there's a difference compared to Google's "pre-baked answers" which aren't interpreted. They are direct snippets from the author. Sure they may be incomplete, but they aren't altered.

This (see link below), on the other hand, is a homunculus formed of my work and other people's work that is an incoherent mess.

It's upsetting as someone who spends time solving and learning to see it come to this.

@khalidabuhakmeh I don't understand why this needs to be a thing?
@joestead The search engine itself?
@khalidabuhakmeh I mean, a search engine finds results, it doesn't make them up. It's a different thing altogether
@joestead This answer swerves from Vite to Laravel and it does it in a wall of text. It's wild.
@khalidabuhakmeh Should've thrown in Django and ASP.NET for good measure tbh. Biased AI at it again
@joestead I guess these tech bros aren't happy I make a measly $20/mo off ad revenue, they want that too.
@khalidabuhakmeh Yeah, that would be my motivation for building something like this "Make sure Khalid loses out on $20 a month"

@joestead It's about exploitation and gross ethics obfuscated in a black box of their own making.

Services powered by LLMs need to cite and pay creators for the work they put in.

@khalidabuhakmeh Agreed. Reminds me when independent artists started getting DALLE-2 to generate Mario/Disney characters to get the big boy lawyers involved in it
@joestead The irony is the players in the space see no issue copying content off the internet, but when competitors start feeding results from one LLM into another, they get really defensive and lawyered-up.
@khalidabuhakmeh @joestead i’ve wondered for a while i’d there was a noise level (say news quality) where people would revolt, completely abandon something or demand change but humanity seems gebe rally happy to consume worse and worse results. I say we 10x increase the noise to signal ratio and see what happens. /s
