This Alison Cook review of the Houston outpost of Austin's Home Slice Pizza rings true to me. The pizza’s just ... OK. She nails the fact that its sauce is too salty, and in general the garlic's too much. There are better NY-style pizzas in Houston, including the one served at Pizaro's Pizza Napoletana (if only it didn't come in just one humungous size) and Romano's on West Gray.

But yeah, the patio is a killer, one of the best outdoor pizza scenes in town.

Houston restaurant review: Home Slice Pizza in Midtown

The pies at Home Slice Pizza, the new Austin import in Midtown, range from pretty good to pretty bad. The magic lies in the whole improbable, madcap setting.
