SCOOP: A group of scholars held a dinner at billionaire Harlan Crow's Dallas home in 2019 and were surprised to see his historical collection featured Nazi memorabilia and pro-slavery items. They now say it was a "mistake" to meet at the home of this Clarence Thomas benefactor. I obtained correspondence between the group and Crow, in which the academics shared their concern and Crow defended his collection.

Here's what happened after Clarence Thomas' benefactor let scholars dine near his Nazi memorabilia

The leaders of a commission on democracy now say “it was a mistake” to meet at Harlan Crow's mansion.

Mother Jones
@DavidCorn can I make the "mistake" of NOT PAYING TAXES ANYMORE?!

@DavidCorn Anyone who collects and displays Nazi and slavery memorabilia in this way is not doing so because he hates either of those things.

He puts them on display to try to recruit allies to his white supremacist beliefs and causes. They are, in fact, a test.

@Myrha @DavidCorn some humans are truly evil. Why can’t people see this?
@MsStarryNight @Myrha @DavidCorn
I'm confident that the stuff at Crow's house that's on display is only a test and if his guests pass it than he'll show them the really, really gross crap.
@DavidCorn The academics claim to have learned a lesson: "Know who your wealthly Nazi hosts are before you accept their "hospitality"??? Seems as if there was an anthropology Professor in their cohort who did, but didn't find it a problem.
