GOP's latest rejection of the rule of law: GOP Gov Abbott pardons a man who killed a US Air Force veteran bc Tucker Carlson demanded it. Why? BC the murderer killed a BLM protester-which the GOP hates. My CNN: https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/10/opinions/texas-abbott-pardon-murder-trial-obeidallah/index.html

@DeanObeidallah Note that the murderer Abbott wants to pardon, his excuse is the "Stand Your Ground" (legalized murder) law b/c the shooter "felt threatened" by the victim's AR15?

These are the same people who praise Rittenhouse who was waving around an assault weapon threatening people, and when they tried to take HIS weapon away, he legally killed them.

So the people who tried to stop Rittenhouse were "legally" murdered. Moral: The law favors the survivor, so kill who threatens you. 🤦‍♂️

@DeanObeidallah that hasn't happened yet, and if it does, won't shield the murderer from federal charges. Texas is a state that tried to violate a SCOTUS ruling that requires government to be able to issue pardons. To do this in Texas, all pardons must be recommended by a pardon commission, that never actually meets. So the governor may never actually have a pardon to sign. Abbot may be able to force the commission to meet though... I'm not sure.
@DeanObeidallah Democracy and justice can be cast aside when inconvenient, apparently.
