Lunchtime #BBC news mobilised the #health editor of the #SundayTimes to discuss the #JuniorDoctors strike leading to loss of life...

I would hope that the BBC listeners would see behind this to the real fact that 12 years of #Tory defunding has been the real cause of loss of life, not the latterly attempt by junior doctors to force some better workforce planning (by paying hardworking doctors a reasonable wage)...

But this week they'll be a lot of this sort of nonsense from the beeb I'm sure!

@ChrisMayLA6
We might hope. The narrative has been that a further reorganisation will suffice.

If I were a young doctor I think I'd look at options outside the NHS.

@will_shake

But, in one sense that is also what the Tories want; the best & brightest to take jobs in private #healthcare, so by making it more attractive to wavering patients

@ChrisMayLA6
I doubt the long term decline in the NHS would be reversed by any political party.
It's occurring in step with the decline of our economy.

Was 2 $US to a pound when I was young.

@will_shake

Yes I would agree; anyone who has been attentive to the GDP/per capita data would have seen the decline in pretty stark terms over the last half century

@will_shake @ChrisMayLA6 sadly, many are applying for overseas posts. 40\% is the figure I have seen!

@jna @will_shake

aha, well there is a strange poetic justice in that I suppose; for some time the UK has scripted on triningin of medics & nurses and has instead drawn them in from poorer countries with reasonably function health services... now (as they say) the boot is on the other foot

@ChrisMayLA6 @will_shake and as with lack of dentists (Bupa are closing 85 dental practices as no dentists) it will impact the privatisation of our health services.
