We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.

—Louis Brandeis

@rbreich Citizens United needs to be overturned. If money is speech, then the wealthy will have more power of speech to influence elections than everyone else.
@cowvin @rbreich Thai is exactly why the court made that ruling. Your ability to influence scociety should be proportional to your wealth, that’s the idea.
@Yozoo @rbreich if you believe that's the way it "should" be, then why not just auction public office to the highest bidder?
@rbreich the wealthy will fight to the death, to maintain their status quo.
This is the result of greed. Greed is not byproduct of capitalism, it is an emergent property of our species.
We either control it, or we all die.
@rbreich Time for a nonlinear devaluation of the dollar. How about taking the logarithm? If you had 10 dollars, you now have 1. If you had 10 billion dollars, you now have 10.
@rbreich how do I get some of that wealth?

@rbreich We COULD have a more equitable economy, but, unfortunately, too many of us live under a common delusion. “John Steinbeck once said that socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

― Ronald Wright, A Short History of Progress

@rbreich are we becoming the fascist states of America?
@rbreich We already have great wealth concentrated in a few. no longer a democracy. we are a corporate oligarchy.
@rbreich Spot on 'Democracy' & 'Oligharcy' can be likened to, Pouring untreated sewage into Rivers Seàs, Air Everywhere And Putting on a 'Real Malchic Horror Show, 'king'Plant Botherer, 'Flying Circus 'Coronation' Imposing the, 'Million Pounds Pounds PollTax on those demonized, 'Toile-Treasure Fodder'
